Ah Phuket. I lived there two years and still wish I didn't have to leave... Sure it's touristy. But you don't have to spend all your time at Patong do you? There are beautiful temples, gorgeous beaches and jungles, and don't leave without exploring Phuket Town. Yes one of the 1000 Thai smiles is the one recognising you as an ATM, but you can get past that to the real people if you have time. It's worth it, I assure you.
