Found in the northeast of Brazil, Fortaleza is the capital of the Ceará state and wildly popular with both Brazilians and foreign tourists. Not only does the city have 25 kilometres of urban beaches, but there are plenty of other beaches, dunes, and fishing villages to visit within a short drive. Fortaleza is the gateway to the ‘Route of Emotions’, which includes Jericoacoara, Delta do Parnaíba and Lençóis Maranhenses.
With its seaside location comes some amazing scuba diving at Pedra da Risca do Meio Marine State Park. As it is rapidly developing, shopping has become very popular in the city as well. There are two large shopping centers and plenty of smaller shops that draw in the shopaholics. For more traditional trinkets, you can visit the Feirinha Beira Mar.
The locals enjoy listening to forró music and watching football at the Arena Castelao. The weather in Fortaleza is usually warm, especially between August to December when it is very dry as well.
